Cole Military History

WILLIAM EDWARD COLE- United States Military Academy Class of 1898.  He served in military assignments in New York and Panama and rose tot he rank of Brigadier General during World War I, commanding the 351st Field Artillery Regiment and the 20th Field Artillery Brigade.  He received the Distinguished Service Medal for exceptionally meritorious and distinguished service.  He attended the United States Army War College and later advanced to the rank of Major General.  He retired from the military in 1938, but returned to active duty between 1941 and 1944 to serve on the War Department Personnel Board.  Cole was a native of Utah and a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

HUBERT MERRILL COLE- Colonel United States Army, Second World War and Korean War.  Burma China theater in WWII.  Artillery commander.

WILLIAM E COLE-Brig. General- program executive officer, missiles and space, Redstone Arsenal, Alabama.   He assumed command of the Natick Soldier Systems Center on Dec. 5, 2013. He also serves as the Deputy Commanding General of the U.S. Army Research, Development and Engineering Command.

A native of Churchville, Md., he received his commission in 1987 from the United States Military Academy. His initial operational assignments were with the 82nd Airborne Division at Fort Bragg, N.C., where he first served as the fire support officer for Company C, 3rd Battalion, 504th Parachute Infantry Regiment. His military education includes the Field Artillery Officer Basic and Advanced courses, Airborne, Ranger and Jumpmaster schools and the Command and General Staff College
