Ron Hinckley’s Response to December 1962 Entry

Teri Chase-dunn | Posted on March 25, 2020 |

Kinda glad he stopped here as I don’t think I could take any more of his assessment of my game.  He missed that in the Grand Island come from behind OT victory I made 4 free throws down the stretch to seal the win and that my teammates ran down to the locker room ahead of me and hand scrawled a sign that they put on my locker, “Welcome to Westside, Hinkley”–yeah, they couldn’t spell it right, but I didn’t care.  The Columbus game was one I’ll remember for the rest of my life, which is hard since I was undercut on a fast break drive to the basket and knocked out (wonder why he didn’t mention that) and when I came to I had insult added to injury as I learned the homer refs had called me for a charge (In those days there might have been 2 offensives fouls called a year!).  But glad to read that Debs was aggressive in her ice skating–must have body checked a few people as she roared around the ice.
